Roxithromycin
Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?
Respiratory tract infections. Caused by Streptococcal pharyngitis, pneumococci and H.influenzae. Prophylaxis of rheumatic fever and SABE. Diphtheia, Tetanus, syphilis and gonorrhoea. Infections caused by, Branh, catarrhalis, Gard. vagindalis, legionella and B. pertussis.
Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?
Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Porphyria.Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication
Hepatic insufficiency. Arrhythmias.
What are possible side effects of this medication ?
Nausea, vomiting, gastralgia, diarrhoea. Rarely rashes, hepatic impairment. Headache, dizziness, weakness, changes in blood counts, eosinophilia and acute pancreatitis.
