Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

GIT spasms. Adjunct in the treatment of peptic ulcer. Hyperhidrosis. Urinary incontinence. Adult enuresis.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Obstructive disease of GI or urinary tract Pregnancy. Glaucoma. Myasthenia gravis. Toxic megacolon in ulcerative colitis. Hiatus hernia associated with reflux oesophagitis. Prostatic enlargement. Pregnancy and children.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Hyperthyroidism, congestive heart failure, coronary heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, acute MI, cardiac insufficiency, hypertension. Hepatic or renal impairment. Patients with Downs syndrome. Lactation and elderly.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Drowsiness. Blurred vision. Rarely neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Dry mouth, thirst, difficulty in swallowing, skin dryness, flushing, reduced sweating, heat stroke, constipation, nausea and vomiting. Pupil dilation with loss of accomodation. Increased intra ocular pressure. Urinary hesitancy and retention.
