Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Hypokaleamia. In digitalis toxicitity associated with hypokaleamia.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Plasma-potassium concentration above 5 mmol. Higher degree of A-V block or complete A-V block.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Concentration of solution should not exceed 3 gm (40 mmol)/litre. Renal impairment.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

When infused in very high doses, it can cause cardiac asystole.
