Lomefloxacin
Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?
Mild to moderate infections of respiratory tract and urinary tract infections. Bacterial infections of the anterior segment of the eye including conjunctivitis, blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis. Otitis externa, Otitis media.
Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?
Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy, lactation and children below the age of eighteen years.Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication
CNS disorders, pseudomembranous colitis. Long term treatment may enhance development of secondary fungal infections or growth of non-susceptible bacteria. Avoid in patients with known QT prolongation, uncorrected hypokalaemia. Renal impairment.
What are possible side effects of this medication ?
Nausea, headache, photosensitivity, dizziness, diarrhoea. Slight and transient burning. Pruritus, photosensitivity, thrombocytopenia. Anaphylatic or anaphylactoid reactions.
