Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Psychosis, particularly negative and cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia, depression.? Somatoform disorders, dyspepsia, gastro-esophageal reflux and irritable bowel syndrome.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, manic states, hyperprolactinaemia, mammary dysplasia, malignant mastopathies, cardiac impairment, GI bleeding, mechanical obstruction or perforation of GI tract.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Pregnancy, lactation, may impair ability to drive or operate machinery.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Amenorrhoea, gynaecomastia, changes in libido. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome.
