Immunoglobin (Gammaglobulin)

Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

A gammaglobulinemia, severe infections in immunodeficient patients or neonates. Now rarely used as prophylaxis, in Hepatitis A or Hepatitis B infections. Prevent or modify measles attack in Immunocomppromised patients. Primary rubella in pregnant women whereby pregnancy termination is unacceptable. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, Guillain-Barne syndrome. Allogenic bone marrow transplantation.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity, IgA-deficient patients.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Increased risk of ARF in patients with renal impairment, DM, hypovolaemia, overweight, concomitant nephrotoxic medicianl products or >65 year. Pregnancy and lactation.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Headache, hyperthermia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatique, dizziness, myalgia, hypotension and tachycardia. Allergic cuyaneous reactions.
