Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?
Breast and ovarian cancer. Small cell cancer lung, pancreatic, gastric and head/neck carcinomas. Neutropenia, but neuropathy is less frequent. Arrhythmias, fall in BP and heart failure.
Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?
Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Alcoholism. Bone marrow depression. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy.Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication
Immunization with live virus vaccines. History of chicken pox or Herpes zoster. Lactation.
What are possible side effects of this medication ?
Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Headache. Allergic reactions. Bone marrow depression. Dizziness, tiredness, dysphagia, palpitation, tightness in chest, chest pain, heart problem, arthalgia, myalgia, tingling and numbness of extremities, alopecia, scleroderma. Paroxysmal atrial, heart failure.
