Carbimazole
Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?
Primary or secondary thyrotoxicosis, thyrotoxicosis prior to thyroidectomy, intractable congestive cardiac failure, angina pectoris and paroxysmal tachycardia.
Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?
Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Tracheal obstruction. Pregnancy and lactation.Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication
Stop medication and report to physician in case symptoms like sore throat fever or rash appear.
What are possible side effects of this medication ?
Bone marrow depression, mouth ulcers, rashes, nausea, headache, arthralgia. Loss or graying of hair, fever and liver damage, agranulocytosis.
