Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Vitiligo.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Lupus erythematosus, porphyria, cataract. Melanoma or other skin cancers.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Periodic opthalmic examination should be done. Before each treatment cover skin for at least 24 hours and after each treatment cover skin for at least 8 hours by wearing protective clothing. Protect lips and uncovered part of the body with sunblock medications. Sunblock products should not be used on the areas of skin that are to be treated. Use wraparound sunglasses.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Dry or itchy skin, blistering and peeling of skin, reddened and sore skin, risk of skin cancer, premature aging of skin, swelling especially of feet or lower legs. Nausea, dizziness, headache, mental depression, nervousness, sleeplessness.
