Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Repigmentation of vitiliginous areas.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Certain photosensitivity disorders. Hepatic impairment.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Do not sunbathe for 24 hour before and 48 hour after PUVA treatment. Avoid exposure to sunlight for at least 8 hour after administration and patient should wear wrap-around UVA absorbing glasses for 24 hour after administration. Regularly examine patients for signs of premalignant or malignant skin lesions. Pregnancy and lactation.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Increased risk of cataract.
