Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Treatment of nicotine dependence, as an aid to smoking cessation.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Occasional smokers, children, pregnancy and lactation, acute MI and unstable angina, cardiac arrhythmias, recent cerebrovascular accident, active peptic ulcer.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Hypertension, stable angina cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer, renal or hepatic impairment, skin diseases.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Erythema or pruritus at application site, headache, sleeplessness, myalgia, flu like syndrome, nausea, dizziness, dyspepsia, dry mouth, diarrhoea, sweating, angioneurotic edema, urticaria and dyspnea.
