Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Oliguric phase of renal failure. Cerebral edema. Raised intra-ocular pressure.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Congestive cardiac failure. Metabolic oedema with abnormal capillary fragility, anuria due to severe renal disease, severe dehydration.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Hypervolaemia, urinary tract obstruction. Pregnancy and lactation.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Pulmonary oedema, fluid and electrolyte imbalance, acidosis (with high doses). Nausea, vomiting, thirst, headache, dizziness, convulsions, chills, fever, tachycardia, chest pain, blurred vision, thrombopholebitis.
