Flubiprofen Sodium

Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Analgesic, antipyretic and mainly used in dysmenorrhoea, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, musculoskeletal disorders, soft tissue injuries, tooth extraction, post partum and post operatively, acute gout. Postoperative and post laser inflammation of the anterior segment of the eye, inhibition of intraoperative miosis.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), Hypersensitivity. Active peptic ulcer, GI bleeding. Pregnancy, lactation and use in paediatrics

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Acute infections of the eye may be masked by its use. History of herpes simplex keratitis. Asthma, bleeding disorders, cardiovascular disease and those receiving coumarin anticoagulants. Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Transient burning and stinging, ocular irritation. Increased bleeding tendency of ocular tissues in conjunction with surgery. GI intolerance, rash, rarely jaundice thrombocytopenia, oedema.
